Time to dream

How I Dreamed Bigger and Broke the Cycle of Poverty

This pod was personal. Private, even. But I want you to get to know me. The real me.

When I look back at my journey, one thing is clear: dreaming bigger is what saved me.

Growing up in poverty wasn’t just about lacking money. It meant food insecurity, constant uncertainty, and never seeing anyone around me living the kind of life I wanted. I didn’t have role models to look up to—I had to become my own.

Recently, I had the privilege of sharing my story on the Just Be Better Podcast. We dug into the challenges I faced, the resilience I built, and the choices I made that allowed me to create a life beyond survival.

Here’s what I shared:

  • Breaking the cycle of poverty: For me, this wasn’t just about finances—it was about breaking free from the mindset that kept me small.

  • Turning mental health into a superpower: Living with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder has been challenging, but it’s also taught me empathy, emotional intelligence, and how to navigate complexity in life and leadership.

  • Redefining sales and leadership: I believe sales isn’t about manipulation—it’s about curiosity, connection, and authenticity. I’ve built a career by focusing on people, not just quotas.

I also talked about the challenges women face in leadership, the complexity of neurodiversity in the workplace, and why dreaming bigger isn’t optional—it’s essential.

Key lessons I’ve learned along the way:

  1. Dream big, even when it feels impossible: Your circumstances don’t define your potential.

  2. Empathy isn’t a weakness—it’s a leadership skill: People follow those who understand them.

  3. Your story matters: The struggles you overcome shape the strength you bring to the table.

If you’re looking for inspiration or need a reminder that success is possible no matter where you start, I hope you’ll take the time to watch my conversation.

Let me know what resonates with you—I’d love to hear your thoughts. And remember, dreaming bigger isn’t just for me or anyone else who’s “made it.” It’s for you, too. Always. 🌟
